Blogging Story: Kai Chic

This blogging story comes to us from Kai Chic of Mane and Chic. Kai is also a 2009 Black Weblog Award Winner for Best Style and Fashion Blog (Popular Vote) and Blog to Watch (Popular Vote).

Mane and Chic LogoIn 2007, I decided to stop getting relaxers. With very little resources available to me, I thought it would be a good idea to document my journey from relaxed to natural. I quickly learned to separate the myths from reality where going natural was concerned. So many told me my hair would fall out if I stopped getting relaxers or that I would have to chop off all of my hair to be natural. Something in me didn’t want to believe that. Something in me knew that wasn’t true. Thus began the journey of Mane and Chic.

What Is The Black Weblog Awards Hall of Fame?

So as you know, we are in the sixth year of the Black Weblog Awards, and we have awarded over 180 blogs. But with blogs springing up at such astronomical rates, we’re doing our part to help keep the Black Weblog Awards fresh. With that, we introduced this rule last year:

Blogs which have won in a particular category over multiple years a maximum of three times are no longer eligible to win in that particular category. This includes categories which have changed names or spun off into other categories.

So before nominations officially begin, let’s celebrate the blogs which have pulled three or more awards and made it into our Black Weblog Awards Hall of Fame.
