SXSW – a set of interactive, film, and music festivals and conferences located in Austin, TX – is one of those types of events that you have to be there to fully experience. For us on the web, the interactive festival is huge because of the information and the connections available. The film and music festivals are huge also, with dozens of films shown and bands performing from every genre. There’s truly something there for everyone.

As you may remember, we had our own successful SXSW panel in 2010 during the Interactive Festival entitled Black Blogging Rockstars. (In case you missed it, there’s video here on our website, as well as audio on the SXSW site.)

Right now, SXSW is accepting proposals for their PanelPicker from now through July 9.

Here’s the link to the PanelPicker: http://panelpicker.sxsw.com.

For information on what you should submit in your proposal, or any other questions, make sure to check out the PanelPicker FAQ on the SXSW website.

Click after the jump for a short instructional video from SXSW on how to submit your proposal:

To recap, proposals will be accepted now through July 9. Community voting will go from August 9-29.

The dates for SXSW 2011 are as follows:
Interactive Festival: March 11-15
Film Festival: March 11-19
Music Festival: March 16-20

Good luck!

Nice! Is there a possibility for another Black Blogging Rockstars panel?

There's a possibility, but we'd have to think of which angle to approach it from for this year. Past “Black” panels at SXSW have dealt with Black identity online through compounding factors of race/gender/sexuality/education/age. That can be some pretty heavy material to tackle in just an hour. Personally, we'd like to move the narrative past that to showcase examples of positive Blackness online. We could certainly do a continuation of last year's panel though, since we had a lot of interested bloggers.
