The Black Weblog Awards is looking for two talented individuals to join our unpaid yet hard-working crew for this year's awards. These are both excellent opportunities to learn more about the Black Weblog Awards, social media campaigns, and more. And even better -- you don't have to be where we are located to apply! (We're in Atlanta, by the way.)

Summary
The Black Weblog Awards is looking for an experienced, hands-on Press Director to volunteer their services to further the Awards' presence in mainstream media outlets (radio/TV/print) as well as online (web/social media). Press Director, Black Weblog Awards
Summary
The Black Weblog Awards is looking for an experienced, hands-on Press Director to volunteer their services to further the Awards' presence in mainstream media outlets (radio/TV/print) as well as online (web/social media). This is a great opportunity to work with a small group of people who are recognizing the greatness of Black bloggers in the blogosphere.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years relevant experience in public relations, online marketing or communications
- Strong understanding of social media in relation to the broader media
- Highly organized, motivated, and a capable problem solver
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentational skills. Spoken and written fluency in English.
- Experience and knowledge of social media tools, including social networking, media sharing, and blog publishing, and more.
- Advertising or fund-raising experience a plus.
Primary Responsibilities
The Press Director will work under the direct supervision of the Chairman of the Black Weblog Awards. The primary responsibilities of the Public Relations Coordinator will be to:
- Write and distribute press releases to the media and following up with media
- Establish a public relations activites calendar
- Engage in media relations by scheduling interviews for Chairman and other BWA staff members (radio/TV/web/print)
- Scheduling speaking engagements for Chairman and other BWA staff members
- Coordinate with the Sponsorship Director and Chairman on creating press kits and other materials for advertising or publicity purposes
- Coordinate with the Chairman on e-mail newsletter distribution and posting to BlackWeblogAwards.com
- Engage in blogger relations with Black Weblog Awards winners for future content and media opportunities
- Delegate applicable tasks to Web Intern

Web Intern, Black Weblog Awards

- Write and maintain the Black Weblog Awards blog on an occassional basis
- Monitor Black Weblog Awards social media channels (Facebook and Twitter), engage followers, and report any issues
- Coordinate operations between the Chairman and other staff members (Sponsorship Director, Press Director, and Web Development Director)
- Engage in blogger relations with Black Weblog Awards winners for future content and media opportunities
