Our new blogger on the block is:
Brown Sugar by Nicole Nared.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
Like many food bloggers, I started my blog out of boredom. I began my food blog to share some of the foods that I was creating in my own kitchen. At the time, I had no idea how huge of an entity food blogging really was. So I quickly learned different aspects of food blogging such as recipe creating, photography, and the use of social media in efforts to make my blog successful.
When I started to get my rhythm of creating and sharing my recipes, I started to wonder how I could separate myself from the rest of the food blogs out there. I didn't want another food blog. Therefore, I decided to begin blogging about different hot spots in the City of Cincinnati and Sex. Hence the tag line: Food, Citylife, Sex. When I first started my sex column, people thought it was based on the physical aspect of the subject but it is a place where I discuss variations around the subject such as the dichotomy between men and women in several aspects, the interplay of relationships, and how the physical act of sex plays as a key character in those relationships.
My food blog is my "baby". It is where I have the complete freedom to share good food, have great conversation, and share a little bit about my "hood". My vision for my blog is for it to become a meaningful platform in the African American community and a household name. I believe that eating good food is healing to the soul and talking is therapy. Therefore, my blog encompasses everything that people need to feel good.
When People come to your blog what will they find?
When people come to my blog people will find simple and comforting recipes, articles the demonstrate different "hot spots" in my city, and slightly controversial article based around the subject of sex.
What is the promise that you make to people who visit your blog?
I promise that people will eat good, want to visit Cincinnati, and want to have more open dialogue about different subject matters that goes on in relationships. Overall, people will want to come back.
Who are your blogging inspirations or heroes?
My biggest blogging inspiration is Ree Drummond, also known as, The Pioneer Woman. Her story and tremendous success that she has received from her blog is very inspiring. Along with that, there are several other blogger that I follow pretty religiously such as The Duo Dishes, Sweetapolita, Kevin and Amanda, Annie Eats, Tasty Kitchen, and several others.
