Why did you decide to start blogging?

What began as a genuine interest in finding unique pieces in thrift stores turned into a “thrifty lifestyle” that values sustainability and incorporates the reduce, reuse, recycle principles in all aspects of our lives. Our blog is the public documentation of that lifestyle and the community that we're building because of it.

When people come to your blog, what will they find?

Information about thrift store shopping, DIY projects for the home, cooking, finances, travel and thoughtful commentary on life.

What's the promise you make to people who visit your blog?

Our promise is that we're only speaking our truth, and that we're not here to preach . Our blog is a safe haven for thoughtfulness and, hopefully, good ideas.

Who are your blogging inspirations or heroes?

We actually can't point to any specific blog that we consider inspirations to our blogging lives. What we see are kindred spirits who are doing things in the blogosphere that resonate with us.

Why did you decide to start blogging?

 I started a blog because I wanted to have a voice, and establish myself as a writer. I saw blogging as the chance to self-start a writing I am inspired by the contributions in blogging made by D.C. Livers and Awesomely Luvvie.career.

 When people come to your blog, what will they find?

 They will find commentary on current events, book reviews, film critiques, educational editorials, and perhaps a rap album review or two.

What's the promise you make to people who visit your blog?

I promise that if you visit Polite On Society, you will learn something.

I am inspired by the contributions in blogging made by D.C. Livers and Awesomely Luvvie.

Why did you decide to start blogging?

I started blogging in 2006. I had a very active social life and wanted to share details of my dating and social escapades with my friends. I quickly realized that they didn't want to hear from me every day and I didn't want to repeat my stories over and over. Blogging was the perfect idea. I could write about my adventures and my friends could read about them at their leisure. Then I gained a following and subsequently formed new friendships. Blogging has been such a blessing. I love it!

 When people come to your blog, what will they find?

 Lots of humor mixed with a little bit of snark and the occasional post written in earnest.

What's the promise you make to people who visit your blog?

You will be entertained.

Blogger Spotlight: The Chester City Blog

The Chester City Blog by Stefan Roots.

Why did you decide to start blogging?

I was publishing a community newspaper and was getting tired of all the work it involved. When the local paper said they were looking for community bloggers, I took them up on the offer and morphed the paper into a blog.

When people come to your blog, what will they find?

Primarily it's information for and about the people of Chester, Pennsylvania. Since most of the population are low income blacks, you'll find issues, opinions, and commentary that affect all low income blacks. A lot of the posts are from press releases and other submissions. Many more are links to articles from the local press.

What's the promise you make to people who visit your blog?

Presenting Chester City's news and views to those who want to know more of what's going on in the City besides the stories they read in the paper.

Who are your blogging inspirations or heroes?

As much as I enjoy blogging, I really don't follow any bloggers. However, I always check in on the Black Weblog Awards to see who's doing what. I was thrilled to meet many of them in Philly last year.
