OK, so we’re having some severe issues with our normally gracious hosting company.
There have been intermittent site outages since Saturday afternoon (from my estimation from looking at the server logs); because of this, we will extend the nominations for this year to August 16, and finalist voting will begin on August 17. Finalist voting will still end on August 31, and winners will be announced on September 4.
Right now, we are looking at purchasing a dedicated server so these issues don’t arise again; if you’d like to help donate to the cause, just click the Make a Donation button in the sidebar.

Our hosting company had a bit of unscheduled downtime, so the Black Weblog Awards site and nomination form wasn’t available for a few hours this afternoon. If you weren’t able to get on and nominate earlier, try now; service has been restored. Thanks!
The nominations for the 2008 Black Weblog Awards are now open! Please make sure you read the categories and rules before nominating (we have an opt-in before entering your nominations, but we just want to make sure so we don’t get any more flaming bags of poop).
Also, for your podcasters out there, we recorded a quick :30 drop for the nominations period. We’ll record another one for the finalist period as well.
Oh, and we’d like your feedback on this: we’re thinking of creating a PDF worksheet of sorts so you can jot down your picks before nominating. After all, the nomination process is a one-shot deal, and once you have them all entered and submitted, they can’t be changed. Let us know if this is a good idea, and we’ll whip one up and make it available to you in PDF format.
