2011 SXSW PanelPicker Open Now Through July 9

5SXSW – a set of interactive, film, and music festivals and conferences located in Austin, TX – is one of those types of events that you have to be there to fully experience. For us on the web, the interactive festival is huge because of the information and the connections available. The film and music festivals are huge also, with dozens of films shown and bands performing from every genre. There’s truly something there for everyone.
As you may remember, we had our own successful SXSW panel in 2010 during the Interactive Festival entitled Black Blogging Rockstars. (In case you missed it, there’s video here on our website, as well as audio on the SXSW site.)
Right now, SXSW is accepting proposals for their PanelPicker from now through July 9.

Black Blogging Rockstars Panel A Success!

2So in case you haven’t heard, our panel Black Blogging Rockstars went really well. There was a great turnout, and so far, everyone who has heard of the panel or attended it said it was wonderful. This is good news for me because I have been heavily medicated, sleep deprived, and generally icky throughout the conference. Blech.
Anywho, we will have video and audio of the panel coming up soon. In the meantime, you can check out this post by Adria Richards (who also graciously recorded the panel) to get a better idea of what was discussed. A big thanks to you all who submitted quotes to us via the Black Blogging Rockstars website. We were able to run a number of quotes through the panel, and have even more quotes (including audio and video) on the site.

Very soon, we will be launching the Black Blogging Rockstars website, where you can read quotes from some of the best Black bloggers in the world answering the question “What does it take to be a Black blogging rockstar?” We will be using these quotes in our panel as well, which takes place on March 12 at 3:30pm CST.
In the meantime, have a look at our panel image, which will be used during SXSW to represent our panel. This will also be available on the SXSW Play iPhone app by Pepsi! We used the names of Black Weblog Award winners and other influential voices in the Black blogosphere to pay homage to their work. Download the hi-res version after the jump!
