By Maurice | View Comments
8This is one of the top questions we receive every year, so we’re going to show you the many ways you can nominate a blog and vote for a blog.
OPTION 1: Go to the Black Weblog Awards website (http://blackweblogawards.com) and click on the “Enter Today!” button at the top of every page.

2Another year, another Black Weblog Awards has come and gone. This is the fifth year we’ve put on these Awards, and every time, I learn something new. The blogosphere is changing for us, and we are definitely changing the blogosphere in many ways. I think that was definitely reflected in this year’s winners and in our finalists.
SXSW Panel Voting Ends Tonight!
By Maurice
Thanks again to you all for voting in this year’s Black Weblog Awards! We’ve got some big things coming up for next year, including, but not limited to, our panel idea at SXSW 2010. Our panel is called “Black Blogging Rockstars”; here’s the synopsis:
Past SXSW panels have shown that Black bloggers and bloggers of color are becoming more prominent and well-known as the years progress. From “Blogging While Black” to being “Digital Urbanites”, being a Black blogger is definitely not limited to any monolithic stereotype. Learn from some of the pioneers and thought-leaders in the Black blogosphere on our past, present, and future.
Voting for panels ends tonight at midnight, and we would really appreciate your support in helping to celebrate Black bloggers on a global stage!
Just visit this link: http://bit.ly/2Tv45h. It only takes a few minutes to register and vote. Together, we will make it!
The Blog's New Clothes
By Maurice
Welcome to the new Black Weblog Awards website! Head on over to either the categories or rules pages for more information.
You can also catch us online at Twitter and Facebook (we have a fan page and a group) for more information or to talk about the Awards.
Here are a few of the changes with this new site:
- Better integrated blog: The blog has always been available, but it’s been tucked off in the navigation. And if we’re the Black Weblog Awards, why not go ahead and put our blog front and center? The Black Weblog Awards blog is now better integrated on the front page of the site so you can easily check out what’s going on with the Awards as well as other news. We plan to have guest authors from time to time from some of the leading voices in the Black blogosphere.
- New nominating/voting system: We finally decided to lift that “you can’t nominate yourself” restriction from the rules. Blog owners can now nominate themselves in any of our categories through our new process. They are given a unique nomination link they can use to get their readers to vote for them in their nominated categories up until July 24. Then, we’ll take the top five nominated blogs in each category and those will be the finalists. Beginning August 1, you’ll be able to vote for finalists in those categories, and finalist voting will wrap up on August 31. (Yep, you get the whole month to vote for the finalists.) Winners will be announced on September 4.
As we keep building and growing out the Black Weblog Awards, we’ll keep you informed of what’s going on via the blog, so stay tuned!
