2008 Black Weblog Awards Rules
- The Black Weblog Awards are for weblogs for, by and/or about Black people. If you've got a question on what a Black weblog is, feel free to browse the winners from past years.
- Only one ballot can be submitted per person. Think of it like a presidential election...except with no hanging chads or faulty Diebold machines.
- You must have a valid e-mail address to submit a ballot. Your information will not be used in any other way except for ballot tabulation, but fake and "anti-spam" addresses will not be accepted. Actually, the form will take them, but those ballots will be deleted once the ballots are checked to determine the finalists. Please read our privacy policy if there are any concerns.
- Please do NOT submit nominations through our contact form. Any nominations received through our contact form will be deleted.
- For nomination and finalist forms, the following rules apply:
- URLs are required for each nominated site. Please make sure it's the correct URL before submitting, spelling and all. The forms will correct for proper URL forming with the http:// prefix, but we will not correct any misspelled URLs. Cut and paste is your friend here.
- Nominees must fit the category for which they are submitted. This is mostly up to the discretion of the judges and founder of the BWAs; if we can't tell that the submitted site fits in the category nominated, then that vote will not be counted. Ballots are checked upon tabulation before finalists are announced.
- You cannot nominate your own blog. However, feel free to encourage your readers to nominate you. This also applies to finalists; you cannot vote for your own blog. All judges are ineligible to win any of the Awards for any of their blogs; this is accepted by them upon becoming judges.
- No mailbots or spammers!
Each category will have two winners. The voting public will submit websites for blogs via our nomination form from August 1-16.
The top three most nominated blogs in each category will become finalists which the voting public will vote on via the finalist form. Our panel of judges will select their favorites (ranked on a weighted system) from the entire pool of nominees. These will all take place from August 17-31.
The winners will be announced on September 4.
